Inspired

I guess I should've blogged after Canada 3.0. I really enjoyed it and well, it was nice to go back to where it all started. I love telling the story of how I got so involved. When people ask me how I got involved in EPIC and TEDxWaterloo, I tell them it's because I got to meet Renjie at Canada 3.0 last year when we volunteered. Canada 3.0 is also the reason I started using Twitter. :) And of course, volunteering for Canada 3.0 last year was because I met the organizing team through Arts Student Union and planning the Arts Last Lecture. Got into ASU because I was an Arts Orientation Leader, which only happened because Jia told me I'd make a good O-Week leader after we met as volunteers for Fall Open House on October 3, 2008. :) I'm sure I've told the story many times...but I'm really glad Jia said those words to me because it completely changed my life. :)

Anyways, what brought on this rare blog post was actually an anime. I've been watching La Corda D'oro lately, it's heavily focused on music. I guess something that friends I've met during my university years don't really know is that I actually love music and used to play in several bands. I do believe I'm one of the few students who earned a level 4 Music Award from Woodlands by Gr. 10 because I was so involved. Usually you earn 1 level per year. Level 1 = Gr. 9, Level 2 = Gr. 10...etc. I gave up piano and vocal lessons by the end of high school. Same with the oboe and electric bass. I guess when I dropped out of high school, the music died as well. But because I've been watching this anime lately, I've been inspired to play again. I just spent about 2 hours at the piano. I even cut my nails so I could play again. :) I was playing Mozart's Turkish March and Chopin's Nocturne Op.9 No.2. I actually haven't played either of those since I was maybe 12 or 13 years old. I'm thinking I want to start taking piano lessons again and do all the RCM exams again...properly this time. I passed the the RCM Gr. 9 exam, but it was just that, a pass. I was preparing for the Gr. 10 exam, but I didn't manage to take the exam before high school was over, so I never ended up doing it at all. Anyways, I really enjoyed playing earlier tonight and if I could, I'd play more but family needs to sleep and so do I. :)

I'm actually going treetop trekking with my sisters tomorrow. :D I haven't gone since last year! Definitely excited to spend some quality time with them. I was originally going to go away for the long weekend, but decided that I didn't want to spend too much money. Next time though, I'll probably go up to Collingwood to check out the caves and suspension bridge at one of the places. Or maybe to the amethyst cave in Thunder Bay. :D

I'm volunteering for Net Change and ideaCity, both coming up in June. Hopefully I'll see some familiar faces at both events. :)

I can't stop thinking about the piano right now. I really do love the sound and wish I could play better. :) Something that I want to play right now is Liszt's La Campanella and Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu Op.66. Others that I absolutely love are Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement and Bach's Toccata and Fugue in d minor. I was never actually able to play the Fugue part of it before. :( Hearing this lovely music soothes me and brings me back to my childhood days. :)
