I volunteered for Net Change Week this past week, but didn't gain much from it. The talks were good, but all things that I've heard of before from other tech conferences. It was nice bumping into @karensd though! She noticed my #ncwk tweet and asked if I was at MaRS too. Maybe it was the red hair, but somehow she recognized me from behind and called my name. The first thought I had when I turned around was that she looked very familiar but I couldn't put a name to her face. Then she told me that she's "Karen...karensd". That's when it hit me. :) Haha. I love how Twitter friends introduce themselves. :) I do the same thing, I say "joannawoo" instead of "Joanna" when I'm meeting a Twitter friend in person. :)

On Friday, I went to the HRPA office to meet with their Events team. They asked me to help them with their social media strategy for the HRPA Annual Conference in 2011. I was delighted when they asked and had accepted right away. I think that they're doing a really good job of embracing social media, rather than shying away from it. Although most of them are digital immigrants, they're picking things up quickly and with a lot of enthusiasm. I'm glad that they're adopting such a good attitude towards change.

ideaCity is coming up! Volunteer training is tomorrow and Tuesday. It'll be my very last volunteer event for awhile. I'd like to give more time to myself after this. :) I only briefly looked at the speaker list, but it seems interesting! For those of you not too familiar with ideaCity, it's similar to a TED event, but held in Toronto. Considering I've been feeling somewhat anti-social lately, I hope I'm back to normal by Wednesday. :)

This weekend should be fun. :) Celebrating 2 of my sisters' (read: close friends) birthdays (June 11th & June 18th) on Friday...I think. The Biz Crew BBQ is happening this Saturday! I can't wait to see everyone again. :) Then on Sunday, it's my brother's birthday and Father's Day. I booked a table at Ruth's Chris to celebrate with them. I've come to treasure weekends. It's the only time I get to see my mom now. She's been forced to work nights from now on which means I never get to see her anymore. I wake up for work at 5am, but she's sleeping at that time, I arrive home at around 4pm, but she's already headed off to work at around 2:30pm. By the time she gets home at around 2 or 3am, I've already been sleeping...since 9pm. It was nice to bond a bit with her yesterday when I watched the England vs. US game yesterday and had dinner with my family.
