Change is...change
Has it already been a month? Seems like August came and went to be honest. It's been an extremely interesting and fast-paced month. Lots of good things happened and if anything not so great happened I've forgotten about it already. :p I'm usually the type to say that change is good or whatever...but all the changes I've experienced in the last month have just been...I don't know. I'm not sure if the change is good or bad yet I guess.
Let's start with work. I recently accepted a position at a different Home Depot store as their permanent full-time HR Staffing Co-ordinator. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that yet. I'll be going there starting the week after next, but I really really really like my current store. The people I've met and gotten to know at Markham 7004 are simply wonderful. :) Funny thing is, when Kelly (7004's permanent HRSC) left in February 2010, I asked her to leave the picture of her daughter with me because Ashley is amazingly cute; I smile everyday while looking at her. Anyways, I asked her if I could take Ashley's photo with me to my new store Richmond Hill 7106 and return the photo in March 2011 when she comes back to 7004. :) She laughed.
I don't know at which point I got so attached to my current HR Manager. I know I really liked her from the beginning, but I've grown to be very dependent on her flexibility. From our communication methods to the fast-paced environment, I'm actually afraid that I might not find another manager like her. Not to mention the endless support she's given me; I don't ask for it too often but it's always nice to know that she's there if I needed anything.
I'm looking forward to meeting all my new coworkers though! :) Hopefully I'll be able to pull off the nice but firm attitude. Met some of them already and got a good feeling about the store. :)
Recently, I've developed a new love for parks in the Markham area. :) Been having a really good time going around the area and actually exploring Markham. If everything goes well at the new store, I'll be looking for a place in the Markham/Richmond Hill area and move over there.
September also marks the end of my hibernation. I feel well-rested now and have already started on a few things already. HRPA Annual Conference tickets are now on sale, early bird special ending October 14th. If you see a bunch of tweets from the @hrpa account that doesn't have a name attached, it's me. :) I've started to tweet again too. I was slightly upset that TEDxToronto rejected me, but hey, it motivates me to make sure TEDxWaterloo is that much better. :) So of course, TEDxWaterloo planning has started and it's going to be a great year! EPIC meeting tomorrow, in Waterloo, with the entire team. Orientation week is coming up next week, so I'll catch the end of it and spend maybe Friday night and all day Saturday next week in Waterloo. :) Volunteered to be an online mentor as well. HRPA Annual Conference, EpCon, and TEDxWaterloo will all take place in the first 2 months of 2011. My original plan was to actually go travel from March-September after my contract ended. Oh well, guess those plans will be put on hold for awhile.
I had very vivid dreams earlier about work. Some of the problems that have come up at work, I was actually solving in my dream. Too bad I can't remember what it was about anymore. Lol. When I first woke up though, it was very clear to me about what occurred in the dream. And apparently I'm REALLY GOOD at having conversations with people while sleeping. I can respond to emails and msgs without difficulty while asleep. I somehow carried on 3 different conversations while napping earlier. When I read the conversations after I woke up, I actually made a lot of sense. :) Something about me is that if anyone ever calls me while I'm sleeping and they ask whether or not I'm sleeping, my first instinct is to say no so they don't feel bad about waking me. :) I think sometimes they can tell that I was sleeping though. :p
I think that's it for now. :)
